About Alva Fabrica
A craft house. A network. An operating standard.
Alva Fabrica was founded in 2017 by a furniture designer, a textile manufacturer, and a marketing director — all of whom had watched the bespoke-commission process collapse into either expensive concierge layers or unmanaged direct-to-craftsperson commissions that ended badly. We built an alternative: a vetted craftsperson network, a concierge layer that earns its place by actually working, and the operational support that lets working studios stay focused on craft rather than client management.
How commissions work
Every commission goes through our concierge team — initial brief, craftsperson selection from our vetted network, design and sample approval, milestone production reviews, and pre-delivery quality check. Ninety-day post-delivery warranty across every commission. We're explicit about what we charge for the concierge layer; it's worth what it costs.
How we vet craftspeople
Every studio in our network has been vetted via portfolio review, reference checks across at least three previous client engagements, and a trial commission with our concierge team. We say no to roughly 65% of studio applications. The bar is competence in finished work, communication discipline, and willingness to work within our concierge structure.
Who we serve
Designers, architects, and art directors briefing bespoke craft commissions for clients. Households commissioning bespoke furniture, joinery, upholstery, and drapery for their homes. Craftspeople and small workshops looking for client flow and the operational support that makes a small studio sustainable. Plus the network itself: 220+ studios, 4 regions, and the kind of working-craft community that doesn't exist on a marketplace platform.
